Coca Cola is in serious talks to produce marijuana-infused drinks'

"They're pretty advanced down the path [of doing a deal]", Bloomberg's source was quoted as saying, adding that the two companies were looking at drinks in the recovery category.

CBD, which does not produce a high for the user, has been used for medical purposes, including easing inflammation, pain and nausea.

"The space is evolving quickly", spokesman Ken Landers told Bloomberg.

Coca-Cola insisted "no decisions have been made at this time" and said it would not comment on further speculation.

"While beer-makers have been betting on the marijuana industry, Coca Cola's interest indicates that CBD could soon break into the mainstream", Bloomberg said.

As beverage makers including Molson Coors step into the marijuana market, Coca-Cola is thinking about joining the pot party. That's because Coca-Cola is reportedly only interested in making drinks with cannabidiol (CBD), the non-psychoactive chemical found in marijuana plants.

USA border agent charged with murder of four women
She told police she struggled with Ortiz inside his truck, where he pointed a pistol at her, but that she was able to flee. The victims in the Ortiz case were killed or left for dead in rural parts of Webb County, which borders the Rio Grande.

Wells Fargo analyst Bonnie Herzog called the news "an exciting potential development" as it would take Coke into another fast-growing healthier segment following last month's $5.1 billion deal for Costa Coffee and expand cannabis-infused drinks in the area of functional wellness products. And a new, marijuana-infused drink may show Coke's continued desire to stretch out into beverage sectors other than your standard soft drink.

Big corporate names have inched into the marijuana industry since Canada approved recreational use, seeing the country as a production base and testing ground until U.S. Federal Law changes.

Would you down a cannabis-infused Coke?

If a partnership between Coke and Aurora does go through, the deal would mark the first entry of a major manufacturer of non-alcoholic beverages into the cannabis market.

According to Business Insider, shares of Aurora jumped 15 percent during early Monday trading after the Coca-Cola report broke.

In the USA, medicinal use is allowed in 29 states and the District of Columbia and nine of the states have legalised both medical and personal cannabis use.
