Two Russians named as suspects in United Kingdom nerve agent attack

"Prosecutors from CPS counter-terrorism division have considered the evidence and have concluded there is sufficient evidence to provide a realistic prospect of conviction and it is clearly in the public interest to charge Alexander Petrov and Ruslan Boshirov, who are Russian nationals".

This was "part of a wider pattern of Russian behaviour that persistently seeks to undermine our security and that of our allies around the world", May said, promising further action to combat the GRU, and against Russia generally.

The Kremlin rejected the claims that Mr Putin was responsible and said that it was not going to investigate the suspects.

It reports the duo had made numerous trips all across Europe on their passports - which British authorities have suggested might be under false name.

May says United Kingdom intelligence services have concluded that the men, Alexander Petrov and Rusdan Boshirov, work for the GRU agency.

"This has included trying to pass the blame for this attack onto terrorists, onto our worldwide partners, and even onto the future mother-in-law of Yulia Skripal".

The Skripal case triggered a diplomatic crisis with Russian Federation and Western countries mutually expelling a large number of diplomats.

After trawling through thousands of hours of CCTV footage and separate material, police said they had tracked the men from their arrival at London's Gatwick airport to a budget hotel in east London - from which they carried out a reconnaissance mission in Salisbury on 3 March before returning the following day to carry out their assault and fleeing back to Moscow.

Police say the suspects, both about 40, flew from Moscow to London on Russian passports two days before the Skripals were poisoned on March 4.

Poland expelled four Russian diplomats as part of a coordinated global response to the suspected nerve agent attack in Salisbury.

Early Tuesday, Gordon was packing maximum sustained winds of 65 miles per hour - short of the 74-mph threshold for a hurricane. By Wednesday afternoon the numbers were down to about 5,800 in Alabama, 3,000 in MS and a little more than 2,000 in Florida.

British U.N. Ambassador Karen Pierce briefed the 15-member U.N. Security Council on Thursday on the latest developments in the case of the attack on Sergei and Yulia Skripal.

Detectives believe the front door of Mr Skripal's Salisbury home was contaminated with Novichok on March 4.

She said that she does not know the men Britain suspects of being behind the poisoning.

"The GRU is, without doubt, not rogue, it is led, linked to both the senior members of the Russian general staff and the defence minister and, through that, into the Kremlin and the president's office".

Prosecutors said the men are being charged in absentia with conspiracy to murder, attempted murder and use of the nerve agent Novichok, prosecutors said. They spent weeks hospitalised in critical condition and are now recovering in a secret location for their own protection.

Putin's foreign policy adviser, Yuri Ushakov, told reporters in Moscow that the names of the two Russian men suspected in the poisoning "do not mean anything to me". A police officer, Nick Bailey, was also hospitalised.

A woman near Salisbury, Dawn Sturgess, died in July and her partner Charlie Rowley fell ill after Rowley found a counterfeit bottle of Nina Ricci perfume in a charity collection box and brought it home.

A European arrest warrant has been obtained in case either of the two Salisbury suspects travel to the European Union.

Speaking at an emotional news conference in Russia, Victoria Skripal said she was in touch with Skripal's daughter Yulia, but that the family had not heard from him for more than half a year.

The 66-year-old former Russian double agent and his daughter Yulia, 33, were found unconscious on a shopping centre bench in the southern English town of Salisbury on March 4.
