US Open Buzz Never Gets Old - Federer

US Open Buzz Never Gets Old - Federer

After his opening-round victory against Japan's Yoshihito Nishioka on Tuesday, Federer spoke of the challenge in playing freely with so much invested in the outcome of the match.

No. 22 Maria Sharapova versus Sorana Cîrstea (following Djokovic match on ESPN2): Sharapova, the 2006 US Open champion, hopes to keep up her momentum to earn a spot in the second week of the tournament.

Three straight forehand errors brought back what could have been a love hold to deuce, but it was still no problems for the five-time champion in NY, getting out to a 3-1 lead.

Kyrgios reached the third round by seeing off France's Pierre-Hugues Herbert 4-6, 7-6 (8/6), 6-3, 6-0.

"I'm probably in a little bit of disbelief", Millman, 29, said after three hours and 35 minutes in the cauldron of Arthur Ashe Stadium. "Sure, they come for the tennis, but it's also sort of a bucket list, wanting to be there", Federer said.

"I'm a more complete player than I was back then". De Minaur and Tiafoe are fourth and fifth in the ATP Race To Milan, respectively, as both players battle to appear at the Next Gen ATP Finals for the first time. For a player who has won the US Open five times, winning a round or two will never be enough.

He could face No. 30 Nick Kyrgios in the third round and 13-time major champion Novak Djokovic in the quarterfinals.

While Federer was largely untroubled, there was a hint of danger in the first set which required him to dig deep to avoid any potential problems.

Chelsea fans made an exciting observation about Mateo Kovacic in Bournemouth win
Chelsea FC hosts AFC Bournemouth at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, Sept. 1, in the fourth week of English Premier League play. Speaking to the BBC after the game, Maurizio Sarri reflected: "I'm really very happy with my players".

On Thursday, Federer took a 6-0 career lead over world number 56 Paire although the Frenchman did have match points in Halle this summer before losing a second round encounter.

"Not a bad performance by any means by me", Federer said. The set was decided by yet another double fault from the 20-year-old who lost the breaker 7-4 even though he had so many opportunities to clinch it earlier.

So could the Swiss maintain his unbeaten record over unseeded men here, and his unbeaten record in Round-2 matches?

"Obviously I felt better, especially after that 10-minute break".

With temperatures soaring above 90 Fahrenheit (32C) amid crushing humidity, the United States Tennis Association (USTA) said the 10-minute heat break that women players are granted between the second and third sets would be extended to the men.

Roger Federer hits a return to Yoshihito Nishioka. She faces Cîrstea, who was nearly beaten by American Alison Riske, before making a comeback to beat Riske 7-5 in the decider.

They'll see him again against Kyrgios, who burst onto the scene with a win against No. 1 Rafael Nadal in 2014 at Wimbledon.
