We plan to continue extending these credits through October 21 and will continue as conditions require. The hurricane destroyed thousands of homes and took down the networks of major mobile carriers in multiple counties.

Finally, Sprint said that, from October 10 to October 18, the operator would waive call, text and data overage fees, and that it continued to work to restore services. It tore down electrical wires and ripped apart fiber networks needed for delivering broadband and mobile phone service.

Last week, thousands of telecommunications workers began streaming into Florida to fix downed networks. And in Jackson County, which borders Alabama and Georgia, about 83 percent were without power.

Tolls remain suspended in northwest Florida, including at Mid-Bay Bridge and Spence Parkway in Okaloosa County, Garcon Point Bridge in Santa Rosa County, Bob Sikes Toll Bridge in Escambia County, and Orchard Pond Parkway in Leon County.

In a tweet on Saturday, Gov. Scott thanked AT&T "for working to get communications back online quickly & helping Florida communities following Michael".
