Jadon Sancho rewarded for bold move to Borussia Dortmund with England call-up

Fresh from signing a new deal through to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, the 48-year-old raised eyebrows on Thursday with his 25-man selection for the Nations League double-header in Croatia and Spain.

Borussia Dortmund's Sancho has risen from the under-19s - Southgate, however, said he would have been selected regardless of injuries - while Mount and Maddison had been part of Boothroyd's under-21 squad.

Since moving to Borussia Dortmund from Manchester City, Jadon Sancho has been impressive as the youngster bagged one goal and eight assists for the Bundesliga giants so far this season.

It's a big call, but it aligns to what we've done in the last 18 months.

"You never know with young players what they are capable of until they have an opportunity", the manager told a news conference at the national St George's Park training center.

The 21-year-old has scored three goals and picked up two assists in only seven appearances for Claude Puel's side, impressive form that has caught the eye of the England boss.

I have learned a great deal from them and their passion and professionalism in representing England has been an inspiration to my own work - in particular Steve Holland, who I'm pleased to be continuing to work alongside through to 2022.

Centre, BJP-ruled states cut fuel prices, Congress calls it panic reaction
The centre now levies a total of Rs 19.48 per litre of excise duty on petrol and Rs 15.33 per litre on diesel. Meanwhile, reports are coming in that Delhi, led by AAP will not cut Value-Added Tax on petrol and diesel.

"Well, he's had a long period injured at Chelsea a year ago, so that wasn't a reflection on the quality of the player that he hadn't been with us, but he wasn't getting any football, really", Southgate said.

His inclusion nonetheless raises eyebrows but Southgate feels his place and that of Derby County midfielder Mason Mount is well-deserved and with a number of key players absent through injury it gives both an opportunity to stake a claim.

"He is a player that excites us a lot, he is adapting to a big football club and he has had two starts in the Champions League this year". We're always conscious of the balance in bringing young players in but we think they are performing well with their clubs and they are confident players.

Jordan Henderson has the most caps (46).

Ross Barkley and Nathaniel Chalobah are also called up.

The manager's continuing preference for promise over experience underlines his determination to build on, and better, the summer run to the World Cup semi-finals.
