Mr Trump tweeted in June: "Robert De Niro, a very low IQ individual, has received too many shots to the head by real boxers in movies".

This report comes the day after a flurry of reports as officials discovered suspicious packages containing pipe bombs sent to Democratic leaders. Debbie Wasserman Schultz of Florida.

The package sent to CNN also contained an envelope of white powder that experts were analysing.

FOX 29's Chris O'Connell has obtained a photo of the package intended for Biden that was intercepted at a Wilmington, Delaware post office.

U.S. President Donald Trump blamed news media outlets on Thursday for stirring up anger and hateful political rhetoric as two more suspicious packages were discovered, addressed to former Vice President Joe Biden and actor Robert De Niro.

Also, another two packages addressed to former vice president Joe Biden were also intercepted at DE mail facilities.

The devices appeared to be pipe bombs, said Bryan Paamann, FBI special agent in charge of the counterterrorism division in NY.

The package sent to the actor also had the same return address as the others: that of Democratic US Rep.

Democratic Representative Maxine Waters said in a statement on Wednesday that US Capitol Police said that her Washington, DC, office was the target of a suspicious package that was referred to the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Each package had six American flag Forever stamps on the envelope. The FBI is now seeking the perpetrator with a full-scale manhunt.

Former CIA director John Brennan, prominent Democratic Party donor George Soros and California representative Maxine Waters, an outspoken critic of Mr Trump, were also targets.

The FBI are treating the packages as a domestic terror incident, and law enforcement sources believe the same suspect or suspects may be behind all of the packages.
