US Mega Millions jackpot hits $1.6bn

US Mega Millions jackpot hits $1.6bn

The Mega Millions game, which was created in 2002, has seen changes over the years that have reduced the chances of winning, meaning bigger and bigger jackpots.

The potential Powerball jackpot has now climbed to $620 million for Wednesday's drawing.

The $2 million victor has not yet claimed their prize.

The current jackpot beats the previous record, a $1.586 billion jackpot for a Powerball drawing in 2016, said Seth Elkin, a spokesman for Mega Millions.

"It's hard to overstate how exciting this is ... but now it's really getting fun", said Gordon Medenica, the head director of the Mega Millions Group and director of Maryland Lottery and Gaming, CNN reported.

Big money is on the line as the Powerball and Mega Million jackpots continue to grow without a lucky victor in sight.

The central bank is nominally independent of the executive branch, though US presidents appoint the bankers to their posts. Traders of futures contracts tied to the Fed's policy rate see rates topping out at about 3 percent.

Its jackpot rose on Friday to £360 million ($470m) from £329 million ($430m), with a lump sum value of £205 million ($268.6m).

But if you are itching to play, you could win even more on Tuesday.

The numbers to look for on the winning ticket are 16, 54, 57, 62, 69.

A drawing was held on Saturday for a Powerball jackpot worth an estimated $470 million.

Powerball has climbed since there was a victor in NY on August 11.

The lucky player matched all five white numbers drawn but was just one number shy of the jackpot. But because the player added the Power Play for an extra $1, the prize is $2 million. The games are played in 44 states, Washington D.C., and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
