Wolves' Asking Price For Jimmy Butler "Too High"

Wolves' Asking Price For Jimmy Butler

Barring a change in the dwindling trade market between now and the season opener in San Antonio on October 17, the Timberwolves are making preparations to start the season with Butler on the roster, league sources said... The Timberwolves are looking into making it happen.

The early speculation with Jimmy Butler's trade request from the Minnesota Timberwolves was whether the Miami Heat was on his wish list.

The Miami Heat, who have been among the most aggressive teams pursuing a trade for Butler, find the price too high.

An executive with another Eastern Conference team said he believes Miami is the leading contender for Butler but that wasn't based on anything the Wolves have told him.

It was initially reported by Wojnarowski that Butler gave Minnesota three destinations he would like to be traded to, and those three were the Brooklyn Nets, Los Angeles Clippers and New York Knicks. Wojnarowski has also mentioned the Phoenix Suns as a team that could force its way into discussions; they have reportedly had interest in Tyus Jones in the past, so they could be a team to watch. The Heat could be keeping Richardson off limits equally because of how well he and Butler could work together and simply because they think they have the leverage to do so.

Hurricane Michael strengthens into Category 2 storm with 100 miles per hour winds
Kay Ivey signed an emergency declaration for her entire state, expecting widespread power outages and other problems from Michael. It made landfall on the coast as a Category 1 hurricane on Sep 14 and drenched some parts of the state with 40 inches of rain.

Minnesota shipped several of its' young assets to Chicago - Kris Dunn, Zach LaVine and the draft pick that became Lauri Markkanen - to acquire Butler.

In fact, at the team's media day Monday, Sept. 24, at Target Center, the Timberwolves' president of basketball operations and head coach used his opening statement to answer the two pertinent questions facing his team on the eve of training camp.

While Butler is an unbelievable talent, coming off a 22 point, five rebound, and five assist per game season that ended in a first-round loss to Houston, there are far too many risks for such a promising team to take on at the moment. A starting lineup featuring Paul, Harden, Butler, Tucker and Capela with Carmelo Anthony as a sixth man is better than Houston's rotation past year when they set a franchise record with 65 wins.

I completely understand the appeal of the Cavs wanting to get a proven commodity in Butler; he's that second 20-plus point guy to go with Love. "But we're not just going to make any deal".
