Melania Trump defends 'fantastic' red Christmas trees at White House

President Donald Trump and his wife Melania have lit the National Christmas Tree in the park behind the White House.

As previously reported by IJR Red, Trump has recently reiterated her commitment to her initiative, despite her critics, explaining that she remains "committed to tackling this topic because it will provide a better world for our children" - adding that she uses the attacks from critics as motivation to bring about awareness.

Melania Trump on Wednesday continued her stated mission to discuss the ongoing opioid crisis with young people by participating in a town hall with college students at Liberty University, a faith-based college in Lynchburg, Virginia.

"I hope everybody will come over and visit it", she said.

First ladies, like their president husbands, have never been exempt from public criticism, however unfair or unkind. "In real life, they look even more lovely, and you are all very welcome to visit the White House, the People's House".

But the event was aimed mostly at discussing the U.S. opioid epidemic and she said she had taught her son "what is right, what is wrong".

In an order on Sunday, the United States district court Judge Randy Moss said Papadopoulos's arguments failed to justify a delay. A year ago, Papadopoulos pleaded guilty to lying to the Federal Bureau of Investigation in the course of Mueller's probe.

The White House itself has already been decorated for the Christmas holiday, with wreaths adorning the building's facade, ruby red trees, and more traditional trees on the inside.

"And you are all very welcome to visit the White House, the "people's house".

"So here we are in the Cross Hall and Grand Foyer", the first lady said at the White House's primary first-floor entrance. In real life, they look even more lovely.

Almost 48,000 people died previous year from overdoses involving opioids.

Addressing the opioid epidemic is a pillar of the first lady's Be Best youth initiative. She stressed the importance of getting rid of the stigma associated with opioid or other substance addiction.

Over 72,000 American deaths were caused by opiate abuse in 2017.
