NBA Twitter explodes over Jimmy Butler to Sixers trade

Before Jimmy Butler was traded to the Philadelphia 76ers, the Washington Wizards were aggressively trying to acquire the four-time All-Star from the Minnesota Timberwolves, according to Tim Reynolds of the Associated Press.

It's being reported that Minnesota will likely waive Jerryd Bayless' contract in order to create roster flexibility.

Butler has been in a dispute with Minnesota Timberwolves this season after requesting a trade during the summer.

Details of the trade, reported by Adrian Wojnarowski and Zach Lowe, were not disclosed.

This story will be updated shortly.

Seven conclusions from Manchester United's last seven comeback wins
The Manchester derby comes on Sunday as champions City welcome their arch rivals United to the Etihad. But I respect Juventus , their players, the manager, the quality they have".

Minnesota also sent Butler out of the West, where he could have done a lot more damage to the Timberwolves in an already stacked conference.

Last season, Butler averaged 22.2 points, 5.3 rebounds, 4.9 assists and 2.0 steals in 59 games. In his previous seven seasons, Butler has only played more than 70 games twice. The Sixers will weigh Butler's physical condition and how he fits with Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons, but they didn't give up such significant assets believing that this would be a rental situation. Sources say the NBA All-Star has been traded to the Philadelphia Sixers.

With Butler off the table, the Clippers can begin to focus on their current core of players and the rest of the National Basketball Association season.

In a slightly differing report, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports that the deal was discussed prior to the Kings game, nearly leading to Butler sitting out, and that it was completed before the team left to head back to Minnesota.
