The Quick Read on Jeff Sessions' Resignation as Attorney General

About 40 sign-carrying people protested Thursday against President Donald Trump's ouster of Attorney General Jeff Sessions and the threat they said it poses to special counsel Robert Mueller's Russian Federation investigation. "He'll be allowed to finish his job", he said.

Former Justice Department official Ian Prior tells CBN News Whitaker should expect ongoing attacks.

Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer on Friday sent a letter to Trump questioning the legality of Whitaker's appointment, since he was not confirmed by the Senate.

"If Mueller wants to do any more subpoenas, if he wants to bring in Don Jr.to talk about the meeting at Trump Tower, he has to go through Whitaker to make that happen", said Scot Northern, who attended the protest in Iowa City.

About 200 people showed up at Central Park in Valparaiso Thursday evening to protest President Donald Trump's ouster of Attorney General Jeff Sessions. Look for Whitaker to reduce Mueller's operating budget, pull lawyers and investigators now working on Mueller's team back to DOJ, refuse to authorize grand jury subpoenas or indictments, and/or push Mueller to wrap up the probe as soon as possible.

A Republican party loyalist who was Sessions' chief of staff, Whitaker has also publicly questioned the probe. The #ProtectMueller rallies had been planned by Move On well before Sessions announced his resignation at Trump's request on Wednesday, and were to be triggered by the crossing of certain "red lines", such as the firing of Robert Mueller or of Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein.

OPEC: Conversation to Shift Toward Production Cuts in 2019
New Delhi has poured $2 billion into development in Afghanistan since the 2001 USA -led overthrow of the Taliban government. With last week's increase, USA oil production has now risen to a record 11.6 million barrels a day, the EIA report shows.

President Donald Trump has fired Attorney General Jeff Sessions, replacing him with a Trump loyalist who has called special counsel Robert Mueller's Russian Federation investigation a "witch hunt".

On Thursday, Toomey said he knew Sessions to be "a very good man", but that the attorney general has to have the full confidence of the president.

Miller's lawyer told reporters Thursday that if they lose at the appeals court level, they intend to appeal the case to the Supreme Court.

Legal scholars, meanwhile, have debated the constitutionality of Whitaker's appointment, with some lawyers saying it is illegal because Whitaker has not been confirmed by the Senate.

"People want to see the rule of law preserved and they [local protestors] want to emphasize that nobody is above that, not the president, not anybody", Forsythe said. It's the closest to an unvarnished opinion on the Mueller Investigation from Whitaker that we're likely to get. After a testy exchange at the White House earlier this week, the administration took the unusual step of suspending the credentials of CNN White House correspondent Jim Acosta.
