Tip: Watch Free (Ad-Supported) Movies on YouTube

Users of the platform will now be able to watch films shows like Legally Blonde, Agent Cody Banks and Terminator in full, for free on the platform. The revenue generated will be split with the movie studios who agree to allow their movies to be offered using this free format. Users can watch these films at no cost with commercial interruptions and pop-up banner ads like the ones displayed on other YouTube videos. It has been possible to purchase movies from YouTube for some time, but until now there has been no (legal) way to access movies for free.

Add to that the data Google has on individual consumers and you can see the potential for not only getting us to watch adverts during a movie, but for those ads to be targeted at individual viewers.

YouTube Is Now Showing Free Hollywood Movies

YouTube just threw its hat into the free movies market. The new offering was added in October without much attention, according to AdAge.

YouTube also offers episodes and seasons of popular TV shows, like AMC's "Better Call Saul", NBC's "The Good Place" and the classic first edition of Star Trek at $US2.99 per episode, or $US9.99 to $US14.99 for the complete season.

Dhawan said the number of films will continue to expand.
