Trump clashes with 'rude, terrible' CNN reporter

Trump called Acosta a "rude, awful person" and an "enemy of the people" at Wednesday's post-election question-and-answer session with reporters.

One video that is circulating widely appears to have doctored Mr Acosta's movements. "I've traveled with him and watched him", Alexander said.

Other social media users are sharing one of Mr Trump's tweets from 2013 where he criticises the "intimidation of its reporters". "Why doesn't CNN and all journalists who check and verify everything they report sue trump for slander?"

Reporters pushed Trump on whether his campaign rhetoric on migrants from Central America was divisive - and on developments in a federal investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election and any coordination between Moscow and the Trump campaign.

In the incident, President Trump engaged with Acosta and then said he had enough of his questions before a young woman walked over to take the microphone away.

Acosta said in a tweet late on Wednesday he had been denied entry into the White House by the Secret Service.

Trump said he "never" worries about any record of racist remarks because "I have never used racist remarks". Trump told Acosta to sit down and demanded someone take away his microphone.

CNN called the credential revocation an "unprecedented" move and "a threat to our democracy". "I think I'm just covering a story, honestly", Acosta said in a 2017 interview with The Washington Post about his reporting style.

Wallace appeared on Fox News host Dana Perino's afternoon program where he called Acosta's approach more of an argument than a question. "We do have to stick together, but Jim Acosta makes it awfully hard to have journalistic solidarity in something like this".

Even though Sanders cited the specific incident with the intern in her statement, the New York Times and CNN reported that Acosta's access was revoked because he asked Trump tough questions.

What did the White House say?

"We will not tolerate the inappropriate behavior clearly documented in this video", she wrote. "I never thought that in this country I wouldn't be able to cover the president of the United States just for asking a question", he said. "To be honest. You aren't the best", he said.

"I came in here as a nice person wanting to answer questions, and I had people jumping out of their seats screaming questions at me", Trump said.

"Sources with direct knowledge tell Jonathan Swan that since the earliest days of his presidency, Trump has mused about revoking press credentials for reporters who infuriate him", Axios reports.
