Users Report Facebook, Instagram Down Worldwide

Facebook and Instagram were once again down on Tuesday evening as users took to rival Twitter to inform each other.

Instagram users reported problems loading the app or showing an error message.

The Daily Mail said users were still having trouble getting on the sites several hours after issues were first reported, though the problem appeared mostly resolved by around 4pm ET (5am on Wednesday, Singapore time).

Facebook has more than 2.2 billion users worldwide, while Instagram, which is owned by Facebook, has more than one billion active users.

Nick Papas, a spokesman for Airbnb, declined to comment on the officials' statements. The Palestinian Authority (PA) has expressed support for the move.

The independent monitoring site Downdetector showed a map indicating outages affecting most parts of the world, especially in North America, Europe and Asia. "We continue to be deeply concerned by internet disruptions, which prevent people from communicating with families and friends and also threaten the growth of small businesses".

Both platforms along with Messenger experienced similar outages last week.

According to different users when they visited the home page of Facebook the message "service unavailable" was being displayed.
