Apple Engineer Makes HomePod Box 'Glitter Bomb' Trap to Fight Package Thieves

YouTuber Mark Rober was sick of thieves nabbing packages from his front porch, so he designed a massive glitter bomb set to deploy when the culprits opened the stolen box.

The whole package took about six months to engineer and then "test" in the field.

Moral of the story: Don't steal other people's packages!

Mark Rober is a NASA engineer and YouTube star and he knows what he's doing. In the video titled "Package Thief vs. Glitter Bomb Trap", Rober said he developed the glitter bomb trap after police refused to help him investigate missing parcel incidents.

The video was posted Monday - it already has more than 8 million views.

Teen arrested in murder of pregnant 17-year-old in Indiana
Rouhselang told her mother she was meeting Trejo behind their home to discuss the pregnancy at around 11 p.m. on Saturday. Her body was found in a dumpster in their hometown of Mishawaka, about 80 miles (130 kilometers) east of Chicago.

Rober spent six months combining Global Positioning System tracking, cameras, fart spray and glitter in an elaborate and amusing mechanism after discovering thieves had stolen an Amazon delivery from his doorstep. If it's moved, it signals four LTE-data smartphones inside the trap to start recording footage.

When the parcel was jostled, the device would check the Global Positioning System signal to see if it had been moved from its spot. Rober's device purportedly captures video of what appears to be bungling bandits spewing obscenities as their package-stealing plots are thwarted by clouds of glitter and stench.

Rober chose to record videos of people attempting to steal the device, which has been in the Apple Homepod box. Remember the great way he foiled the robberies of Harry and Marv? The phones are housed in a container that doesn't immediately reveal what they are and, as a lovely cherry on top, there's a fart spray that gets deployed five times every thirty seconds.

He said he created the bomb to explode when thieves tried to take packages off his porch.
