CNN's NY offices evacuated due to bomb threat

Photos shared on social media by Stelter and others show police investigating the alleged threat near the Time Warner Center complex, where CNN's NY head office is housed.

A freeze on pedestrian traffic was lifted and traffic on West 58th Street was to be opened again.

A police official said that an unsubstantiated phone threat was made to the Time Warner Building claiming there were five bombs present, and building security ordered an evacuation as a precaution.

"Due to the threat, the office has been evacuated", Stelter tweeted shortly after 10:30 p.m. The network went to playing taped content instead of being live.

Lemon said he was in the middle of preparations for his show when the order to evacuate was issued. "We grabbed what we could and got out of the building and now, we are standing outside of the building", Lemon told his viewers.

Police Target ‘Ndrangheta Italian Mafia in Raids Across Europe
Wednesday's raids were the culmination of an investigation codenamed "Pollino" that was launched in 2016 against the 'Ndrangheta. German prosecutors said 65 premises linked to the southern Italy-based organised crime group were also being searched.

Chris Cuomo also tweeted about the incident, but said employees expected to be allowed back into the building 'ASAP'.

President Donald Trump wrote on Twitter "FAKE NEWS - THE ENEMY OF THE PEOPLE!" as CNN were evacuating their offices during a bomb scare on Thursday December 6, 2018.

The bomb threat was phoned-in, according to CNN.

The one sent to the CNN was addressed to former Central Intelligence Agency director John Brennan, who is a contributor to MSNBC and NBC News but has no relation to CNN.

"Update to follow", the NYPD tweeted.
