Feds catch convicted murderer in migrant caravan: DHS

Ten Central American women taking part in the migrant caravan camped on the US-Mexican border said Thursday (Nov 29) they were starting a hunger strike to pressure American authorities to let them apply for asylum.

Thousands of migrants are being housed at the Benito Juarez Sports Complex near the San Ysidro U.S. -Mexico Port of Entry, even though it can accommodate only 1,000 people.

A "vast majority" of the 42 arrested on Sunday were adult males, according to the Department of Homeland Security.

"We are now predictably seeing members of the caravan - which includes criminals - show up at the border and claim asylum", it also said in the statement.

On Sunday, the U.S. closed its busiest border crossing, San Isidro, for several hours after a standoff between border guards and migrants.

Susan Tully, national field director for the Federation for American Immigration Reform, points out that as many as 95 percent of those migrants are young men between ages 17 to 25.

A man convicted of murder in Honduras was arrested after border agents say he was caught crossing the border with members of a migrant caravan in Tijuana.

The new Porsche 911: All you need to know
The new-generation Porsche 911 bears the internal name 992 - a numerical baby step away from the previous generation Porsche . Meanwhile, Porsche hasn't revealed their torque output yet - the current 991-based Carrera S makes 450Nm of peak torque .

Whatever the USA and Mexico plan to do, it must be done quickly. That prompted Border Patrol agents to launch tear gas and pepper spray balls to quell the unrest.

Customs and Border Protection, the Border Patrol's parent agency, referred only two cases to the Justice Department for prosecution and charges were not filed because the accused had medical problems that prevented them from being held in San Diego's detention center, according to the USA official.

Approximately 7,000 migrants remain on the Mexican side of the border demanding to be let into the United States.

US President Donald Trump, who has called the caravan an "invasion" full of "hardened criminals" and "thugs", is seeking to overhaul asylum policy to keep applicants out pending approval.

The fate of the 42 immigrants remains unclear but Customs and Border Protection said they will face deportation.

The agency shared this information in a news release. Asylum seekers are often released in the USA pending the outcome of their cases in immigration court.
