7-Year-Old Girl Dies In Houston Walmart Shooting

Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said his detectives are working around the clock to find the person who killed the Sheldon Independent School District second-grader.

The unidentified man pulled his red pickup truck beside a parked vehicle and began shooting, killing 7-year-old Jazmine Barnes, The Associated Press reported Monday.

It wasn't immediately clear what prompted the shooting, which occurred Sunday morning as the woman, girl and others in their vehicle were leaving a Walmart parking lot.

Investigators in Houston said Monday that they have a surveillance video image of a pickup truck from which a driver fired several shots into a auto carrying a family, killing a 7-year-old girl and wounding the child's mother.

The gunman was described as a bearded man in his 40s wearing a red hoodie. The mother was transported with an injury to her arm to an area hospital, Razo said.

Another young girl was injured by shattered glass.

Suspected Gas Explosion in Russia Kills at Least 3
In 2015, at least five people were killed when a gas explosion damaged an apartment building in the southern city of Volgograd. The blast reportedly happened at around 6am local time, when many people were sleeping on what is a Russian public holiday.

An arrest hadn't been made as of late Sunday afternoon.

As of now, the shooter is still at large according to the Harris County Police Department. "So senseless. It's never easy, and extra hard during the holiday season", Gonzalez tweeted.

"They're devastated", Razo told reporters.

Sandoval said residents and business owners in the area should check their surveillance video and see if they may have captured anything that could help solve the crime.

'We're going to use all resources available to bring this killer to justice, and I urge you, whoever did this, you know who are, please turn yourself in now, ' Razo said.
