The Mueller investigation is closing in on Trump

The Mueller investigation is closing in on Trump

Stone has previously admitted to being in contact with Julian Assange of WikiLeaks during the Trump campaign. "STONE thereafter told the Trump Campaign about potential future releases of damaging material by Organization 1". On July 22, WikiLeaks released its first batch of Democratic emails.

The FBI raided his home and "terrorized" his family, Stone said outside a Florida courthouse Friday.

The dog - a Coton de Tulear named Bianca - belongs to New York City comedian, radio host and moonlighting civil rights activist Randy Credico.

An ardent supporter of Richard Nixon, Stone was part of a scheme in 1972 to sink the former president's longshot primary challenger, Pete McCloskey.

Mr Stone still possessed many of those communications when he gave false testimony about them, prosecutors said in the indictment. After a two-year inquisition, the charges today relate in no way to Russian collusion, Wikileaks collaboration, or any other illegal act in connection with the 2016 campaign.

White House press secretary Sarah Sanders told CNN's John Berman on "New Day" Friday, "This has nothing to do with the President and certainly nothing to do with the White house". When Trump began toying with declaring a White House bid in 2015, Stone was there, helping create the catchphrase "Build the wall" as shorthand for the celebrity businessman's commitment to hardline immigration policies.

Former Trump adviser Roger Stone says he believes his arrest in the special counsel's Russian Federation probe was "politically motivated" and he's vowing to plead not guilty and fight the charges.

The charges stem from what prosecutors say were Stone's efforts to hide the nature of his discussions during the 2016 election about WikiLeaks, the anti-secrecy group that released thousands of emails stolen from the Democratic National Committee and Clinton campaign chairman John Podesta.

Roger Stone was one of the first members of Trump's team when he announced he was seeking office.

An email matching that wording that was published by The New York Times shows that the official Stone referred to was Steve Bannon. An associate of that official texted Stone after the release to say, "Well done".

"By in or around early August 2016, STONE was claiming both publicly and privately to have communicated with Organization 1", the indictment states. Stone has released emails that he says support that assertion. The indictment alleges that Stone lied to the committee, among other charges. Organization 1 refers to WikiLeaks.

Kevin Lamarque / ReutersRoger Stone, who has a long reputation as a GOP "dirty trickster", was arrested Friday morning on a seven-count indictment. He did not immediately reply to a text message regarding the threats against Bianca.

He then worked on campaigns for Ronald Reagan, where he met a fellow operative by the name of Paul Manafort.

But as details of the indictment made clear on Friday, Stone was regularly in touch with Trump campaign officials through the election and into the transition.

Stone was indicted Thursday by a Grand Jury but is not accused of coordinating with Russia's election election interference. The right-wing author reportedly pulled out of plea negotiations with Mueller, then sued him with allegations that Mueller tried to pressure him into lying about communications between him and Roger Stone regarding WikiLeaks.
