Trump Walks Out Of Meeting With Pelosi, Schumer On Government Shutdown

Trump announced Monday that he will speak to the nation Tuesday night about illegal immigration and border security as the USA enters day 18 of a partial government shutdown in a fight over funding a border wall.

Trump sought to put the blame on Democrats for the standoff, saying they "will not fund border security".

"We had this new opportunity to present these leaders differently, and I feel like we've seen that image a lot of times". "American democracy doesn't work that way". Meanwhile, almost 800,000 federal employees have been furloughed.

The president is planning to visit the southern border later this week, according to White House press secretary Sarah Sanders. "But they are not going to fool Donald Trump who has got tougher than Pelosi and Schumer". "It's time for President Trump [and] our Republican colleagues in the Senate, to accept it", Schumer said. The mounting impact of the partial shutdown, which initially was limited but will increase as more federal workers miss paychecks this cycle and services like those at national parks suffer, is likely to increase pressure on Congress and the White House to forge a deal in the coming days. Pence would not say whether Mr. Trump is any closer to declaring a national emergency to free up funding for his wall, something the president has considered doing.

"Last night the president spat more malice and misinformation appealing to fear instead of facts", Pelosi said.

Rep. Pramila Jayapal, D-Wash., added, "I just think this is a situation where (Trump) is holding the American people hostage to a vanity wall fantasy".

Saudi women will be told by text if they are divorced
Having said that, there is a long way to go as many of their rights are still restricted to having a male guardianship system. Basically, the reason for this new concept is so that women in Saudi won't be divorced without their knowledge.

"I didn't hear the president say anything that would change my mind".

Schumer dismissed the president's speech as "little more than a rehash of spurious arguments and misleading statistics that the president has been using for weeks".

The president said that all Americans are hurt by uncontrolled illegal immigration.

"The people out there want something to happen at our Southern border", Trump said. "I knew that before I even went", he claimed.

Hoping to demonstrate flexibility during his almost 10-minute speech from the White House Oval Office, Trump said of the border barrier he wants built: "At the request of the Democrats it will be a steel barrier and not a concrete wall". Following Trump's speech from the Oval Office on Tuesday night, Morgan reiterated his support for the president's plans during an interview with The Washington Post. "Our responsibility is to do what we think is in the best interest of the American people and the effective and efficient operations of their government".

But Murkowski told reporters that six shuttered federal departments other than the Department of Homeland Security "don't have anything to do with border security". Among Republicans, however, support for the wall is much stronger, with 77 percent approving and 54 percent supporting the shutdown as a means to that end.
