Authorities are searching for escaped prisoner considered extremely unsafe

The prisoner who is being held on three pending murder charges escaped from a private prisoner transport vehicle on the north side of Conroe, according to an article by the Montgomery County Police Reporter.

Authorities have captured Cedric Joseph Marks about nine hours after he escaped from a prisoner transport van earlier Sun., Feb. 3, 2019.

Marks, 44, has three pending murder charges against him and is "considered extremely unsafe", the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office wrote on Twitter.

Marks, 44, who calls himself "Spiderman" when in the MMA cage, has been all over the country during his adult life, records show. Scott and her friend, Michael Swearingin disappeared on January 4 and their bodies were found in Clearview, Okla., on January 15.

The manhunt is being carried out by the Conroe Police Department, the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office, and the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, the article stated.

April Pease, Marks' ex-girlfriend and mother of a son, was reported missing March 17, 2009, according to The Charley Project.

Kent County, Michigan, officials turned Marks over to U.S. Prisoner Transportation on Thursday morning for extradition to Texas, the CBS affiliate reported.

The search for Marks drew a massive law enforcement presence north of Houston, with part of Interstate 45 being shut down during the manhunt. He has not been charged in the deaths of Scott and Swearingin, who were reported missing from Temple on January 4.

Scott requested a protective order against Marks last July, accusing him of choking her unconscious twice, Temple television station KCEN reported.

Maya Maxwell, 26, was arrested and charged after she told police that she tried to hide Swearingin's auto in the Austin area after his disappearance. The two were involved in a fierce custody dispute in Washington state and Pease went to a protected location with their son because she said she was afraid of Marks.

Texas Prisoner Transport Services has contracts with several Central Texas departments, including Bell County, McLennan County and Hill County.

Jail records do not list an attorney for either woman.
