LG’s new flagship smartphone - G8 ThinQ

Also unveiled at MWC was the LG G8 ThinQ which, while less flashy than the V50, has some unusual tricks of its own.

As it turns out, those other rumors were true, too: there is, in fact, a second screen add-on for the V50 ThinQ that turns the phone into a makeshift foldable.

This second screen is also OLED and measures 6.2-inches.

Taking advantage of the Time of Flight camera LG confirmed prior to the show for the G8 ThinQ, the device offers a new biometric security option called Hand ID, along with new gestures called Air Motion. No prices have yet been given for the V50 and the Dual Screen, but LG's first 5G smartphone should be available in the U.S. with the carrier Sprint in "the coming months".

Sprint's says its 5G network will launch in nine USA cities in the first half of the year: Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Kansas City, Los Angeles, New York City, Phoenix and Washington, D.C. The V50 ThinQ will be the first phone compatible with Sprint's 5G network, available this spring; Verizon will offer the device as well later in the summer. The phone's predecessor, the LG V40, launched last fall for the price of $899, but that also wasn't a 5G-compatible phone.

Falcon 9 will also deliver the Beresheet lunar spacecraft and Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) S5 spacecraft to orbit. We received the first sign of life & data from #Beresheet & the #spacecraft deployed its landing legs as expected.

" I know!" says another, "Let's do 'Hand ID, ' we'll say the phone can read your palm like a psychic". Like Samsung's S10 5G, the V50 will be exclusive to Telstra when it launches.

For imaging, the LG V50 ThinQ flaunts three cameras at the rear comprising of a 16MP super-wide f/1.9 primary sensor. Just like the G7 ThinQ, the new model gets a dual camera setup at the rear, but it is stacked horizontally instead of vertically. The dual-screen version can be positioned at either 104 degrees or 180 degrees, and has a 6.2-inch FHD+ OLED display. And because 5G is expected to consume more battery, LG has upped the the battery capacity of the device to 4,000 mAh.

According to online communities, tech bloggers and influencers on Monday, the South Korean smartphone manufacturer's unveiling of its latest flagship phones for 2019 at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain, gave an impression that LG is "kind of lost" in its attempts to keep up with fast-changing trends in the mobile world. The V50 will be a slower rollout that focuses on 5G.

"From premium products to practical ones, we will continue to cater to our customers' needs by releasing phones that go beyond expectations", said Kwon Bong-seok, president of LG's home entertainment and mobile communications businesses.
