Man United: Anthony Martial signs contract extension with Old Trafford side

Martial, 23, ended speculation that he could leave Manchester United on Thursday when he signed a new five-and-a-half-year contract worth about £200,000 per week.

The results are quite staggering as the statistics show that Martial has scored more goals (32), made more assists (16) and has a far better goals-to-shot ratio (18.5) than a young Ronaldo.

Now, I know what you're thinking, Ronaldo was a right-midfielder for his first few years at the club, therefore his stats will not represent the goal-scoring machine he has become. Cristiano was the best, the way he's changed to now; that's part of any player - you've got to model yourself on someone and you've got to have more challenges ahead of you.

Solskjaer played in the same Man Utd team as Teddy Sheringham, Andy Cole and Dwight Yorke and is looking to improve Martial's instincts in and around the box.

Solskjaer has hailed Martial's talent and predicts a great future at the club."Anthony is one of those naturally gifted players that any coach would love to work with", he said.

He appears to be playing with more confidence now, and Solskjaer sees the new contract as a sign of the club's faith in the forward. "As a young lad moving overseas it's not easy but he knows he's going to stay here for the coming future and I believe in him".

"I've been here for 15 years - coach, player, now manager - and I know how much this club can give to your career and what you can give to the club".

Michy Batshuayi completes Crystal Palace loan after Chelsea snub Tottenham
The striker, who had endured a hard first half of the campaign on loan at Valencia , has cost a loan fee of around £1m. Crystal Palace have agreed a deal to sign Michy Batshuayi on loan in the final hours of the transfer window.

United surrendered their 100% start to life under the interim management of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on Wednesday, although two late goals rescued an unlikely point which kept alive hopes of a top four finish.

"I don't think there's anything with Paul".

"The deal is confirmation that we are happy, with him, we believe in him, he's got fantastic potential".

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and his side were seen embarking on a private jet at Manchester Airport as they journeyed south for their upcoming Premier League clash.

'I would imagine he would be available to be involved.

"He's had some ups and downs at the club, he's been top scorer, he's been developing", said Solskjaer.

"We had good discussions, obviously he got injured so we spoke about that but nothing's confirmed so I can't say more, really".
