The Mavs traded three starters including 2017 lottery selection Dennis Smith Jr. to the New York Knicks for Kristaps Porzingis, Tim Hardaway Jr., Courtney Lee, and Trey Burke. All were with NY dating back to 2017-18, and it was the second year of Hardaway's second stint with the organization that drafted him.

Once the Knicks chose to make Porzingis available to Dallas, the two sides' previous working relationship made the deal go through quickly.

Immediately after the shocking trade was announced, one report suggested that other teams were surprised the Knicks made Porzingis available in trade talks.

The move came after Knicks president Steve Mills said the organization had doubts that Porzingis was on board with its rebuild plan.

In doing its due diligence, NY contacted the New Orleans Pelicans about an Anthony Davis trade in recent days.

Asked if that was true, Porzingis said, "Yes". He will then become a restricted free agent this summer.

Cancer lingers, but fight against it prevails in Turkey and the world
Importantly, and as the theme of this year's World Cancer Day - 'I am and I will' - emphasizes, each of us can be a changemaker. There will also be information for any women who may have had breast cancer and where they can purchase post-operative bras.

"It's not a concern I have", Cuban said to ESPN. It's been two days here and they welcome me with open arms, making everything as easy as possible for me just to focus on basketball and rehab and coming back strong and being at my best.

The Knicks were looking for salary-cap relief and young players or future first-round picks in a trade.

Porzingis averaged 22.7 points and 6.6 rebounds per game before his injury last season (Feb. 6).

Porzingis expressed excitement about teaming with 19-year-old rookie sensation Luka Doncic, with whom he has been friends since they were both playing as professionals in Spain.

Porzingis had dinner with J.J. Barea after arriving in Dallas, and the Mavericks guard who is out for the season with a torn Achilles tendon said Porzingis had plenty of questions about the 2011 title run led by Nowitzki and sparked in the NBA Finals by Barea.
