Busy day capped with trade for Odell Beckham, Jr

After passing on a quarterback with the second overall pick last year, the New York Giants signed wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr.to a five-year, $90 million contract extension last summer.

The 12th overall pick in the 2014 National Football League draft and a three-time Pro Bowler, Beckham had the best three-season start by a wide receiver in Giants history.

"With the first-round draft choice, that gives us (pick) six and 17", Gettleman said.

Beckham will also be teaming up with former LSU teammate and Browns wide receiver Jarvis Landry.

Not only does OBJ cause headaches but in the last two seasons, he has played only 16 games. He signed a five-year deal with the Giants in 2016 and was elected to the Pro Bowl two years later.

If Beckham were to have a new contract, there is a chance he won't get a much better deal than what he has at the moment.

It's amusing to think that going to play for the Cleveland Browns is actually a better situation for Beckham than being in NY with that stagnant offense. However, in the end, he landed in Cleveland.

"I did not expect Beckham to get traded", Francesa said.

Prior to the trade being made, Beckham apparently provided the Giants with a list of teams he wanted to go to.

Now New York will feature Sterling Shepard and Evan Engram as its primary playmakers in the passing game (outside of Saquon, of course).

Manning set a career-high for completion percentage (66 percent) a year ago, but the eye test has shown a cooked quarterback for about three seasons.

With the trade of Beckham, the offense has lost its top playmaker, although one could argue the Giants started shifting that role to halfback Saquon Barkley last season.
