Kim returns home after failed nuclear diplomacy with Trump

US National Security Adviser John Bolton insisted Sunday that last week's nuclear summit with North Korea, which abruptly ended with President Donald Trump walking away without reaching an agreement, was not a failure.

The comment came in response to questions about President Donald Trump's claim that he takes North Korean ruler Kim Jong Un "at his word" that he was not responsible for American Otto Warmbier's death.

She also referenced figures in the Mueller probe, including former Trump campaign chair Paul Manafort, longtime Trump lawyer Michael Cohen, former security advisor Mike Flynn, former foreign policy advisor George Papadopoulos, and Roger Stone.

When asked about Cohen's testimony at a press conference in Hanoi after the summit ended earlier than the scheduled time, Trump called it a "fake hearing" and said to have the hearing in the middle of the very important summit was a bad thing.

It stressed Pyongyang's unwavering will to fundamentally end military hostilities between the two Koreas and bring about lasting peace on the peninsula.

Bolton also appeared on CNN's State of the Union, where he defended Trump who said he took Kim "at his word" when the North Korean leader claimed he knew nothing about the alleged torture of imprisoned USA student Otto Warmbier.

"I don't know one expert on North Korea that thinks anything could have happened to Otto Warmbier without Kim Jon Un knowing about it ahead of time, do you disagree?" The KCNA dispatch on Tuesday called Kim Jong Un's Vietnam visit "successful".

Bolton told CBS's "Face the Nation" that Trump's failure to obtain commitments from Pyongyang on destroying its nuclear capability should be seen as "a success, defined as the president protecting and advancing American national interests".

She was arrested at the request of the USA while changing planes in Vancouver last December. On Friday, Ottawa said it was going ahead with the hearings on whether to hand.

As Cohen testified, Trump was meeting with Kim in Hanoi.

"The president is fully prepared to keep negotiating at lower levels or to speak to Kim Jong Un again when it's appropriate", he said.

Much of the criticism of the summit was sparked by Trump's remarks on the case of an American student tortured and left in a coma in North Korea.

The proposal for the talks came during a National Security Council meeting on Monday led by South Korean President Moon Jae-in, who said it was Seoul's "outmost priority" to prevent nuclear negotiations between the USA and North Korea from derailing.

Bolton was touring the Sunday political shows the morning after the US and South Korea announced an end to key annual large-scale military exercises. He also called for pushing ahead with inter-Korean projects now hindered by sanctions and said the two sides discussed the "partial" lifting of sanctions - backing North Korea's version of events.

South Korean President Moon Jae-in called together a meeting of his national security council on Monday following the breakdown of U.S.

"I give my advice to the president", he later added.
