Tiger Woods withdraws from Arnold Palmer Invitational with neck strain

Tiger Woods has withdrawn from this week's Arnold Palmer Invitational in Florida with a neck strain.

Woods publicly announced on Monday that his recent treatment for a neck strain had not improved enough to take part in the tour event. I couldn't play at 100 percent today, so I just wanted to see if I could get out here and (my back) may have loosened up. "It's connection to Arnold makes it one of my favourite tournaments and I'm disappointed to miss it".

Woods has played well tee-to-green this year but has been held back by some of the worst putting of his career.

The World No.11 was playing his first round at Bay Hill with Rickie Fowler and Iain Poulter, but lasted just six holes before withdrawing with a back injury.

He's opting to skip the tournament as he battles a neck strain he's been dealing with for weeks, Woods tweeted.

They still haven't figured out how to navigate an ocean liner instead of their usual handcrafted yachts. You can nearly feel all of them wanting to make such a movie during some passages of Captain Marvel .

Woods has played three times this year, with his best finish a tie for 10th in Mexico City. That year's WD was his second in as many tournaments as he also WD from the BMW Championship two weeks before East Lake.

The Players Championship will start on March 14th, and now, bookmakers are yet to change any odds after Woods injury.

In a post on Twitter, Woods said the problem was unrelated to the lower back issues which sidelined him for almost two years, and added he had no concern over his long-term fitness.

And think about this: If the PGA Tour schedule stayed the same as it was last season, when the Valspar Championship was in early March, Woods would be withdrawing from our tournament. He competed 18 times on the PGA circuit last season and played in the Ryder Cup as well.
