United Kingdom lawmakers to vote on fresh referendum

United Kingdom lawmakers to vote on fresh referendum

If the vote is successful then she can ask for a "short technical extension" to Article 50.

MPs have voted against holding a second Brexit referendum this evening by a substantial majority of 249 votes.

European leaders will decide at a summit next week whether to delay Brexit beyond its current date of 29 March and how long an extension, if any, should be granted.

MPs are finally voting on whether to have a People's Vote on Brexit today - and the People's Vote campaign are against it.

Shadow housing minister Yvonne Fovargue, shadow education minister Emma Lewell-Buck, shadow business minister Justin Madders, Ruth Smeeth, a shadow ministerial aide, and Labour whip Stephanie Peacock, all quit their roles to oppose one.

She had been forced to offer MPs a vote on delaying Brexit after they rejected her withdrawal agreement by a large margin, for a second time, and then voted to reject a no-deal Brexit.

A senior Government source told The Mail on Sunday that the Tory rebels should appreciate the constitutional consequences of a long extension: 'At the very least, the United Kingdom would be expected to take part in the European Parliament elections, at a cost of more than £100 million.

"The market has already shifted significantly to price out a no-deal Brexit", said BNP Paribas economists.

One Day at a Time: Cancelled by Netflix; No Season Four (Reactions)
Lydia Alvarez has made her last grand entrance: Netflix has cancelled its acclaimed reboot of One Day at a Time after three seasons, TVLine has learned.

Prime Minister Theresa May will try to persuade MPs for a third time to back her Brexit deal over the coming days.

On Wednesday, Britain's House of Commons voted to prevent Britain from leaving the European Union without a deal in any circumstances.

In the pouring rain in Sunderland, northeast England, which was the first place in Britain to declare a vote to leave the EU, Farage, wearing a flat cap and carrying an umbrella, said Brexit was now in danger of being scuttled by the establishment. All 27 leaders must unanimously agree.

Downing Street said this was a "natural consequence" of Mrs. Parliament voted this week to seek a delay of at least three months.

May says she wants to minimise any delay in leaving the European Union to just three months, but to achieve that she will need parliament to back her deal at the third time of asking early next week, possibly Tuesday.

Ms Rudd voted against Yvette Cooper's amendment ruling out no-deal Brexit at any time which passed by four votes.

"She's been working tirelessly to deliver a deal and she will continue to do that", her spokesman said. On Tuesday, she failed to attract any more of the Labour MPs who represent constituencies that voted leave in the 2016 referendum, beyond the three who voted for her deal in January.

Originally, Corbyn had been against the idea of the second vote, yet with the abrupt exit of eight members of Labour, the leader favoured the referendum. The next day, they voted to reject a no-deal exit.
