BJP’s election manifesto a fraud, says AAP

The main opposition Congress party released its manifesto last week, blasting the Hindu nationalist BJP for working "to divide the nation".

Groups of Hindu nationalists are increasingly carrying out attacks against Muslims to protect revered cattle - known as "cow vigilante mobs" - killing 24 people since 2010.

The premier said Indian Muslims he knew, who many years ago had been happy about their situation in India, were now very anxious by extreme Hindu nationalism.

Modi has said he will retain power with a bigger mandate than before, while Congress says its plan for annual handouts of 72,000 rupees ($1,034) to the poorest families will help fuel its comeback. Those to be dismantled include groups involved in Kashmir.

BJP supporters have sought the removal, expressing anger at many Kashmiris' resistance to rule by India, which, for three decades, has battled an armed insurgency in the region also claimed by Pakistan.

The prime minister said that the Congress manifesto speaks for Pakistan when it says that Article 370 will never be scrapped.

Relations between Pakistan and India reached a crisis point in February after a suicide bombing killed 40 soldiers in Pulwama in Jammu and Kashmir.

Trump has lamented his decision to appoint Jerome Powell to chair the Federal Reserve, saying he deeply regrets the decision. Since January , the Fed has reversed course and now says it expects no further rates hikes this year.

Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammed had claimed responsibility for the attack but the Indian government had squarely pegged blame on the Imran Khan government for allegedly sponsoring terror activities in India.

The prime minister said there was still the possibility if the polls turn against Modi in the next few weeks that India could take some further military action against Pakistan.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's ruling alliance will win a thin majority in a general election that starts on Thursday, an average of four opinion polls showed, with a focus on national security appearing to trump concerns over jobs and farm prices.

"We didn't talk of air strike in manifesto, but carried it out when warranted", PM Modi added.

The rolling election is held in phases and does not finish until May 19.

Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi warned on Sunday that Islamabad had "reliable intelligence" that India would attack again this month. "The voice of over a million Indian people it is wise and powerful", Gandhi said in a tweet.
