Cristiano Ronaldo could leave Juventus sooner than expected

Cristiano Ronaldo could leave Juventus sooner than expected

Juventus must not let Tuesday's Champions League exit spoil their celebrations if they win the Serie A title on Saturday, coach Massimiliano Allegri said.

The Portugal global joined Juve for more than £100m in the summer, bringing with him a record of five Champions League titles in the last ten years.

Ronaldo had played in the semifinals of the Champions League in each of the past nine seasons, but Juve's quarterfinal defeat to Ajax meant he would not be getting his hands on the trophy this year, having triumphed with Real Madrid in the past three seasons.

"The title is still a great result considering the many injuries the season has been studded with".

"There's regret for the Champions (League), but the verdict must be accepted, without seeking alibis and justifications, because these things are only used by those who don't win", he said.

He scored six of his teams' 14 Champions League goals this season and has 19 so far in Serie A, four behind leading scorer Fabio Quagliarella. "But football is made of joy and sadness".

"Ronaldo is the future of Juventus", he said at a press conference.

"Football is not a science".

There are reports Juve are prepared to spend heavily in the transfer window to overhaul the squad and make them serious Champions League contenders, with Ronaldo, a five-time victor of the competition, claimed to be furious with their defeat.

The Portugal worldwide was denied a sixth Champions League-winners medal after Juve were eliminated from this season's competition at the hands of Ajax on Tuesday night.
