Czech Republic striker Josef Sural killed in van crash

Cavusoglu said Sural and his six teammates had hired a private luxury van to return from a game at Kayserispor in central Turkey.

State-run Anadolu Agency identified the injured players as Wanderson Baiano, Steven Caulker, Isaac Sackey, Papiss Demba Cisse, Welinton Souza and Djalma Campos.

Czech worldwide midfielder Sural unfortunately lost his life after being taken to the hospital following the accident after they played against Asamoah Gyan's Kayserispor on Sunday night.

Alanyaspor chairman Hasan Cavusoglu claimed that the driver had fallen asleep at the wheel, while a second driver was also asleep at the time of the crash.

Czech global striker Josef Sural has been killed after a bus carrying several of Turkish club Aytemiz Alanyaspor's players crashed.

Sural and six other footballers were taken to a hospital, but the Czech midfielder could not be saved.

He moved to Alanyaspor from Sparta Prague in 2016, where he was captain for a while.

England supporters want a nice, smooth approach to this World Cup but we know England cricket and it's unlikely to go that way. The forthcoming Cricket World Cup hosts England have suffered a major setback a month before the start of the tournament.

One of the drivers has been taken into custody and Turkish authorities launched an investigation into the accident, Anadolu reported.

The rest of the squad travelled back with the team bus or on their own.

Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech, a former Czech Republic worldwide, was among the first to offer his condolences on Twitter.

Sural, a forward who made his debut for the Czech Republic national team in 2013, joined Alanyaspor in January.

The Football Association of the Czech Republic said the news of Sural's death brought "great sorrow", adding that: "We will never forget you".

The Turkish football federation said a minute's silence would be observed for Sural at the start of this week's league games. Honest condolences to the family and to all loved ones.
