DeMarcus Lawrence: Dallas Cowboys agree $105m deal with pass rusher

The total value of the contract trails only Chicago's Khalil Mack ($141 million) and Von Miller of Denver ($114 million) among edge rushers. They didn't get close to a long-term deal a year ago.

He played in 15 games during his rookie season, finishing with 16 tackles, three sacks and a forced fumble. For his efforts, Lawrence was selected to consecutive Pro Bowls in 2017 and 2018. Now that it's ready to roll and Lawrence will be with the Cowboys for the long term, though, it's time to evaluate the signing by giving it a grade. This is the first time that another position outside of quarterback is guaranteed a lump sum of money.

As Rapoport points out, Lawrence's deal should now set the market for fellow pass-rushers Frank Clark of the Seattle Seahawks and Jadeveon Clowney of the Houston Texas, both of whom were also hit with the franchise tag for the upcoming season by their respective teams. Although the likelihood that they all get new deals this offseason is fairly low, the Lawrence extension should spark more.

This deal means that Lawrence is signed through the 2023 season and will continue wreaking havoc for the Dallas Cowboys.

'Game of Thrones' Releases Two New Promos Ahead of Final Season
As if the wait for the final season of Game of Thronescouldn't get any harder, HBO has dropped three new teasers in 24 hours. Game of Thrones' final season won't only include bloody battles. "I wasn't supposed to, I told my mum".

However, after reinitiating talks this week, a deal was struck Friday afternoon.

Lawrence took to Twitter to celebrate his new contract.

With Lawrence's deal settled, the Cowboys can turn their attention to wide receiver Amari Cooper, quarterback Dak Prescott, running back Ezekiel Elliott and cornerback Byron Jones.

Last season the Cowboys were ranked 7th on the defensive side of the ball and with this amount of money that Dallas is giving Lawrence, Dallas is making sure that he is the face of the defense, as well as having a lengthy career in Dallas. That's what happened with the Cowboys and Dez Bryant a few years ago.
