Russian Federation report tells how angry Trump wanted Mueller fired

If President Donald Trump did not obstruct justice, it was not for lack of trying.

Throughout, Trump has blasted the probe as politically motivated, while his Democratic opponents have talked up the extraordinary idea that an American president might have been colluding with Russian agents.

In this week's WhoWhatWhy podcast, Kendzior, the no-holds-barred commentator, calls special counsel Robert Mueller incompetent.

Smith argued that Barr has twisted the Mueller report, even saying President Trump cooperated with the investigation despite the report itself indicating that the president did no such thing.

The New York Democrat told ABC's "Good Morning America" Friday that he is preparing a subpoena not only for Mueller's complete report, but also for the underlying documents, including grand jury evidence. Instead, the Mueller Report had a lot of attempted obstruction.

In all, Mueller's team said it referred 14 cases to prosecutors in other jurisdictions, including the Cohen case, which was handled by the Southern District of NY.

The report itself does not exonerate the president with regard to obstruction. "However, we are unable to reach that judgment".

Mueller found the Trump campaign did not conspire with Russian Federation, but he opted to neither accuse nor exonerate Trump of obstruction.

It was that FBI investigation that eventually led to Mueller being appointed as special counsel to investigate Russian interference. The incidents were often carried out through one-on-one meetings in which the President sought to use his official power outside of usual channels.

No amount of redactions can change or diminish these facts, which completely undercut the PR spin that Attorney General Barr and Trump inappropriately used to shape public opinion over the past few weeks.

Rep. Adam Schiff, the chairman of the Intelligence Committee, said the acts described in the report "whether they are criminal or not, are deeply alarming in the president of the United States".

There will also be strident support for Salah, the reigning Premier League Golden Boot victor and Footballer of the Year. No, because it's the only one we play this weekend.

President Donald Trump's spokeswoman Sarah Sanders is pushing back on allegations that special counsel Robert Mueller's Russian Federation report exposed a culture of lying at the White House.

Mueller's report echoes the summary given last month by Attorney General William Barr, saying there was insufficient evidence of collusion between the campaign and Russian Federation. It confirms that the Russian government had "a series of contacts" with Trump campaign officials. Mueller did find such evidence, but not enough to bring criminal charges.

But Mueller rejected Trump's lawyers' broad interpretation of presidential authority.

The American people deserve to hear the truth-and that is why Robert Mueller must testify before Congress in a public hearing as soon as possible to fully-and accurately-explain the report and the context behind its findings.

Mueller's team anxious such moves could leak, leaving Trump in the position of having a prosecutor say he committed a crime without the ability to defend himself at a public trial. But Barr was confusing two different concepts, motive and intent.

Comey testified again to Congress on May 3, 2017, and specifically refused - despite Trump's multiple requests - to declare that the Federal Bureau of Investigation wasn't looking into the president.

Barr so embarrassed himself that Fox News anchor Chris Wallace seemed appalled. "But one thing I focus on, as a state attorney general, is a lack of a certain independence of the U.S. attorney general has from the president, and we see that throughout the report". "Really, as I say, making a case for the president".

The report had not yet been released when William Barr, by turns testy and defensive, took the Justice Department podium to face questions about the now-concluded probe.

Now responsibility shifts to Congress, and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has a decision to make.

The conclusions, we now know: no evidence of campaign members coordinating with Russians to influence the election (though they clearly welcomed the help) and an unclear ruling on whether Trump obstructed justice (try as he might).
