[I/O 2019] Google's more affordable Pixel 3a/3a XL officially announced

"We want you to get these faster", said Stephanie Cuthbertson, Google's Senior Director for Android.

Gartner analyst Werner Goertz says Google's announcements are all about using devices as the missing link between the company's cloud services and the real world. The personal helper has become widely accepted by its users, but that doesn't mean that it doesn't need an upgrade.

Yes, the Google Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL are announced today at Google I/O and we're not suprised at all.

For example, Pixel 3a XL launches with a nifty new Google Maps feature that lets you superimpose Augmented Reality (AR) directions floating in front of you to help navigate around urban areas where the standard blue dot might be a little inadequate.

Earlier Pixel devices have drawn strong user reviews for camera features and artificial intelligence capabilities that beat those in phones from Samsung and other manufacturers using Google's Android mobile operating system.

Google had announced that over a dozen developers have joined the Android Q Beta program this time around, and Xiaomi is obviously amongst them.

Dems ask bar association to punish William Barr for 'despicable' testimony
Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) declared "it's over" and said he had no plans to invite Special Counsel Robert Mueller to testify . Pramila Jayapal, D-Wash., who sits on Judiciary panel, say they're not interested in hearing from Barr anymore.

According to details released at the Google I/O 2019 developer conference and in an interview with The Verge, the company's "Project Mainline" for Q will adopt a radically different approach, updating a list of 14 OS modules over-the-air straight from the Play Store. Now it is possible to get a smartphone made by Google from $399. The bigger Pixel 3a XL also offers the same display resolution but comes with a 6-inch display at 18:9 aspect ratio and 402 ppi pixel density. That includes an optimized version of Android, three years of updates direct from Google, and, most notably, a rear camera that's virtually identical to the top-notch shooter found on the back of the original Pixel 3, a phone that's about twice as expensive. Google included one on its cheaper phones. The phones will be available for purchase on May 15. The Pixel 3 devices come with Snapdragon 845 chipset.

The Pixel 3a was unveiled Tuesday on the main stage at Google I/O, Google's annual conference for its thousands of industry partners and its showcase for new products. Unlike the flagship Pixels, the Pixel 3a handsets won't be bundled with Google's Pixel USB-C earbuds.

Rumors suggest that Google may unveil a mid-range Pixel phone as a cheaper option to the flagship model now on sale for $800.

Google also revealed that it was ending its exclusive carrier relationship with Verizon, making the Pixel available on T-Mobile, Sprint and other networks. The Pixel 3a has a 3000 mAh battery and the Pixel 3a XL features a 3700 mAh battery.

Available from tomorrow in black, white and purple (well, "Purple-ish" officially), the new Pixels sport a polycarbonate unibody with a two-tone design and Google's Pixel Imprint fingerprint scanner.
