Lahore blast: Bombing at gate of shrine in Pakistan city

Senior police official Ashfaq Ahmed Khan told reporters those killed included three police officers, one private security guard and one civilian. Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan and President Arif Alvi have condemned the attack and requested a report of the incident.

Blast outside Data Darbar left at least eight people dead on Wednesday. Its followers in Pakistan have been attacked by militants in the past.

Major urban centres such as Lahore, Pakistan's second largest city and the provincial capital of its wealthiest province, Punjab, are not immune. The shrine, which is the burial site of saint Ali Hajveri, has been under heavy security cover since then.

Footage shows a damaged police vehicle which has been badly burned.

One of the largest Sufi shrines in South Asia, Data Darbar was earlier targeted by terror outfit in 2010 leaving 40 dead and injuring several.

Five policemen also lost their lives in the attack.

Stephen Moore Withdraws From Fed Consideration
Trump tweeted the news of Moore's withdrawal even while describing him as "a great pro-growth economist and a truly fine person". Moore has been an unabashed Trump loyalist, and some economists argued that he lacked the qualifications for the Fed position.

An attack in the city in March previous year left nine people dead, while a major blast in a park in 2016 targeting Christians celebrating Easter killed more than 70 people.

However, officials warned that the attack highlighted the need for vigilance by people gathering for worship during Ramadan.

According to the reports, more than 24 people have been injured in the blast which took place at the 11th-century Data Darbar shrine in the crowded place of Lahore.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack.

Since an attack in a Lahore park targeting Christians celebrating Easter in 2016 killed more than 70 people, Pakistan's second largest city has been largely quiet although an attack previous year killed nine people.
