"I couldn't be more grateful for the community and all the support", said Julia Eller, Amanda's mother.

A yoga instructor who was missing in the forest in Hawaii for two weeks has finally been rescued, and is recounting her ordeal. Volunteers spent days scouring the thick forest around the trailhead where she parked. She ws taken to the hospital for a check up and is now safely back with her family.

It was not immediately clear how or to what extent Eller was injured, but Berquist said Eller was "very alert" and "very surprised to see us". Her auto was found at a trailhead with the key hidden under the driver's side front tire.

Rescuers pose with Amanda Eller after finding her alive in the Maui mountains, more than two weeks after she was last seen. "Even though that meant more suffering and pain for myself", Eller said.

"This was all about us coming together for a greater goal of community and love and appreciation for life", Eller said. She waved them down. She even slept in pig beds to keep warm during the nights.

"That's a tough woman right there", said rescuer Troy Helmer, KHON reported.

About 60 people were searching the area after Eller's disappearance, NBC reported. Her vehicle was later discovered in the parking lot with her cellphone and wallet.

The successful rescue mission capped off a 17-day search in which friends and family of the Mechanicsville native had offered a $50,000 reward for information about what they feared was a possible abduction. "But the only option I had was life or death", she told the Times, calling it a "spiritual journey". The Maui County Department of Fire & Public Safety announced they had suspended the official search on May 12 but continued to follow up on leads. "And they said for what she had been through, she was in surprisingly good shape". "I was like, 'Oh my God, ' and I just broke down and started bawling".

Speaking to the New York Times on Saturday, 24 hours after she was spotted by a search helicopter hired by her frantic parents, she said from her hospital bed: "I wanted to give up". "There was no mistake it was her".

"What she's been through, you'd never be able to tell", Dr. Zora Bulatovic said.

Her friends and family had a Gathering of Hope at Leonardtown Wharf on Thursday, May 9, 2019. "She knew exactly what to take and managed to stay hydrated".

Amanda Eller suffered a leg fracture, abrasions on her ankles and a severe sunburn, but Julia Eller told the Maui News that her daughter's spirits were good.
