Trump to award Tiger Woods the Presidential Medal of Freedom

The crowd in the White House Rose Garden was an enthusiastic one, with high-profile guests including Sen.

Last Thursday, White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders tweeted the details of the award ceremony and that "the event will be invitation only and covered by the press".

"Spoke to @TigerWoods to congratulate him on the great victory he had in yesterday's @TheMasters, & to inform him that because of his incredible Success & Comeback in Sports (Golf) and, more importantly, LIFE", Trump tweeted.

Trump is an avid golfer who played with Woods at Trump's golf club in Jupiter, Florida, in February.

The duo shares a love of the game of golf, but both have also risen to unpredictable and spectacular comebacks: Trump from bankruptcy to the presidency; Woods from public shaming following multiple affairs, injuries and a resulting painkiller addiction, to winning this year's Masters. Mr. Trump has golfed with Woods in the past, and has tweeted about him for years.

US President Donald Trump will honor Veteran Golfer Tiger Woods with his country's largest civilian honor "Presidial Medal of Freedom" at White House on Monday.

Other professional golfers to receive the award include Arnold Palmer (George W. Bush), Jack Nicklaus (George W. Bush) and Charles Sifford (Barack Obama). He's also a great person. Since taking office, Trump has presented the award to numerous athletes, including Alan Page, Roger Staubach, and a posthumous award to Babe Ruth.

UK's main parties suffer local elections setback over Brexit
The Times's front page said May will be told by senior Conservatives that next week she must set a date for her own departure. Instead, two pro-EU parties profited: the centrist, Liberal Democrats were up 676 and the left-wing Greens added 185.

Woods said his last Masters victory was the highlight of his career, and made a point to thank his mom and tell her he loves her. Woods invited his family on stage for pictures.

Mr. Trump has called Woods a "truly great campion".

Trump also golfed with Woods on November 24, 2017, alongside pro golfers Dustin Johnson and Brad Faxon, and he golfed with Woods shortly after the 2016 election. Maybe. But certainly a memorable one for Woods, his family and friends on Monday.

"[What] most impressed me was how far he hits the ball at 70 years old", Woods said of Trump on his website, as spotted by the Washington Post.

"You have seen the good and the bad, the highs and the lows", said Woods.

"He's the President of the United States", Woods said.
