China issues US travel alert | #AsiaNewsNetwork

A separate travel alert issued on Tuesday by Beijing's culture and tourism ministry gave citizens a more thorough warning on the potential dangers, noting recent shootings and other violent crimes.

Today's double travel alerts came after Chinese students had already been warned to "strengthen risk assessment" before deciding to study in the U.S.

"In recent days, there have been incidents of gun violence, robberies and thefts in the United States", China's Ministry of Culture and Tourism said.

A day earlier, China's Education Ministry said Chinese students were having increasing trouble obtaining US visas, urging them to assess the "risk" of choosing to study in the U.S.

The US reignited the trade war with tariff hikes in May, and broadened the conflict by blacklisting Chinese tech giant Huawei.

The U.S. was responding to a white paper released Sunday by China's State Council Information Office. arguing that it's not China but the U.S. that's backtracked on its commitments in negotiations.

"China remains the third-largest source of overseas travel to the United States", the USTA said, and "it accounts for 8.2 percent of overseas travel to the U.S".

The Chinese Ministry of Education has warned students to be careful if studying in the United States - the latest sign of deteriorating relations between the two countries. In an apparent response, the Chinese regime said it would create an "unreliable entity list" of foreign companies, individuals, and organizations that harm Chinese businesses.

Lower Emerging Market Demand Weighing on Prices
Because of weakening demand, Bernstein said "any upside is capped" in oil markets despite relatively tight supply. Crude oil followed yet another global sell-off after signals of an intensifying trade war came out of China.

Yu Jiannan, a spokesman for the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, told reporters that Chinese made almost 150 million outbound trips previous year.

"The US and the federal government have been politicizing the normal exchanges between the countries and suppressing China in the name of the China threat and infiltration theory", he said.

Asked whether the measure which could hit USA travel industry is part of the escalating trade war between the two countries, Geng said, "Chinese people travelling to United States encountered various difficulties during the entry and after entry".

A top US business lobby group said last month that its members face increased obstacles in China such as government inspections, slower customs clearance and slower approval for licensing and other applications. "So it is only necessary for us to issue such a notice".

The US Treasury says the "United States is disappointed" that China has pursued what it perceives to be a "blame game" that misrepresents the negotiations.

The statement posted on the USTR website accused Beijing of "unfair trade practices" that it said have cost the us hundreds of billions of dollars and accused Beijing of pursuing "a blame game".

Even though there are no known talks scheduled for now, Chinese President Xi Jinping and US President Donald Trump are expected to meet at the G20 meeting of leaders in late June.
