SAN DIEGO -Jurors in San Diego found ex-NFL tight end Kellen Winslow II guilty Monday on three counts including rape, lewd conduct, and indecent exposure.

The jury also found Winslow guilty of indecent exposure and lewd conduct, but found him not guilty of one count of a lewd act, which prosecutors had said happened in front of a 77-year-old woman in a hot tub in nearby Carlsbad.

The jurors considered 12 criminal counts against Winslow: seven felonies and five misdemeanors involving the five women.

The rape Winslow was found guilty of involved a 58-year-old homeless woman in 2018.

The University of Miami product was drafted sixth in the 2004 National Football League draft by the Cleveland Browns, ahead of future stars like Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, Patriots defensive tackle Vince Wilfork and Rams running back Steven Jackson.

Finally healthy, Winslow's best season came in 2007 when he finished with 82 catches for 1,106 yards and five touchdowns. "Kellen Winslow took from these women again and again and again", prosecutor Dan Owens said, according to The Associated Press.

According to overthecap.com, Winslow made $39.4 million in his career. His camp said it had been a misunderstanding.

That summer, a 57-year-old woman said he exposed himself to her while she tended to her garden.

The first came after he was caught behind, with replays showing the ball had missed his bat and instead nicked the stump. Australia won by 15 runs to secure their second victory in as many matches in the World Cup so far.

The charges spanned 16 years, beginning in 2003 with allegations that Winslow, 19 at the time and destined for the University of Miami, raped an unconscious 17-year-old, according to court documents.

Winslow, who opted not to testify in his own defense, frequently sat emotionless in the trial that began May 20 in Vista, California, and went to the jury of eight men and four women Tuesday, on what USA Today described as "perhaps the most important day of the Winslow trial".

Noting the number of accusers, the prosecutor said: "Lightning certainly doesn't strike twice - let alone five times".

It's not known when verdicts are expected to be reached.

A judge revoked his bail in March after police accused him of lewd conduct involving a 77-year-old, jail records show.

"Don't take strong parts of one case to fill in the gaps of the weaker (case)", defense attorney Marc Carlos told the jury.
