Jose Antonio Reyes has died in a traffic accident at the age of 35, former club Sevilla have confirmed.

Reyes was part of the Gunners" 2003/2004 "invincibles' team that won the Premier League title without losing a game.

He was also a late substitute in Arsenal's 2-1 Champions League final defeat to Barcelona in 2006 and in the August he joined Real Madrid, initially on loan.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino has expressed his deepest condolences at the passing of former Spain global Jose Antonio Reyes.

He won the trophy three times with Sevilla and it was his boyhood club who confirmed his death in a vehicle accident, aged 35, on Saturday. He won the title three times later on with Sevilla.

"With broken hearts we announce the news of our player Jose Antonio Reyes' death in a auto crash and we ask for you to pray for his soul", Extremadura said.

He was part of the Arsenal side that conquered the Premier League in 2003/04, playing alongside the likes of Patrick Vieira, Freddie Ljungberg, Robert Pires, Dennis Bergkamp and Thierry Henry.

Reyes was also a Spanish global, having earned 21 caps for his country, and represented his nation at the 2006 World Cup in Germany.

Reyes played 21 times for Spain between 2003 and 2006, scoring four goals.

He would later return to his boyhood club in 2012, winning the Europa League on three separate occasions.

Reyes' old club Sevilla acclaimed the former Spain striker as "beloved" in confirming his death.
