United States ready to negotiate with Iran with 'no preconditions'

However, Iran's foreign ministry spokesman Abbas Mousavi responded by calling the offer "word-play", and asked for action instead.

Responding to the U.S. offer, Mr Mousavi said: "The Islamic Republic of Iran does not pay attention to word-play and expression of hidden agenda in new forms".

"We are certainly prepared to have that conversation when the Iranians can prove that they want to behave like a normal nation", Mr Pompeo said.

Separate from Mr. Pompeo's remarks about Iran, The Washington Post reported Sunday that the American secretary of state recently told a private gathering of Jewish leaders in NY that the administration's long-awaited Mideast peace plan might be argued to be "unexecutable" and might not "gain traction".

However, he said Washington would continue to work to "reverse the malign activity" of Iran in the Middle East, citing Tehran's support to Hezbollah and to the Syrian government.

Some analysts believe Iran is acting to restore leverage it has lost since Mr Trump withdrew from the 2015 nuclear deal and the USA reimposed sanctions that have hobbled Iran's economy.

Trump ends $5.6 billion trade preference for India
The Trump administration launched the eligibility review of India's compliance with the GSP market access criterion in April 2018. Adding, it has "significant development imperatives and concerns and our people also aspire for better standards of living.

Proponents of the legislation say their passage will help Iran access foreign financial markets, but opponents warn that it will give foreign countries access to Iran's financial data.

"President Trump has proposed talks "without preconditions" since July 2018, before the USA imposed sanctions on Iran's oil and financial sectors to squeeze Iran's economy". The U.S. imposed sanctions on Huawei in May amid an escalating trade war and as the two powers struggle for long-term technological and economic dominance.

US officials warn that Beijing seeks to use its 5G market penetration to spy on American and European networks.

"The same enemy which declared its aim past year to destroy the Islamic Republic of Iran today explicitly states that it does not want to do anything to (our) system", Rouhani said.

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani appeared receptive to beginning talks, but also cautioned that Iran would not be "bullied" into negotiations. It does not work in dealing with Iran", he said, insisting that "threats against Iran never work.

Pompeo did not respond directly to this request, but he rejected the notion that USA sanctions were causing suffering, instead blaming the leadership in Tehran. Pompeo said Washington has its own "independent understanding of what is taking place there".
