YouTube, Gmail among services affected by Google Cloud issue

Google is right now recovering from a multi-hour outage that knocked several of its internet services offline for unlucky netizens on Sunday.

YouTube wasn't completely down for CNET's John Falcone in Brooklyn Sunday, but some videos were inaccessible, at least temporarily. The company first identified the issue on its Google Cloud status dashboard at 12:25 p.m. When that cloud service is out, then outages happen all across the web, and particularly, in this case, in parts of Europe and the United States., knocking platforms like GMail, Youtube, and Snapchat out of commission.

"Users may see slow performance or intermittent errors", said the company. "We believe we have identified the root cause of the congestion and expect to return to normal service shortly", the company said. One video, for example, was inaccessible for about 15 minutes.

Amir said he had moved on from the "sordid chapter" in his career. On Trent Bridge's flat track, Russell will be waiting to explode. The home side won the series 4-0.

The networking issue appears to be related to an outage at Level 3, an US-based ISP that provides connectivity and various other services to Google data centers. It has also affected third-party services that access Google Cloud, including Snapchat, Discord, and more.

Most of the outages appear to have affected the east coast of the U.S., but parts of Europe and Australia have also been affected in some way.

Update 1:44pm PT: In an update to the Google Compute Engine status page, Google shared a little more information about the problems and promised a fix was on the way.
